Workshops – Handbuilding with claire&clay

On the 17th of February we held our first workshop with the beautiful @claireandclay, along the theme of ‘Handbuilding’ structures.
About Claire: You know those people you meet that instantly makes you warm and smile, Claire is one of those people! Her personality can be seen through her work, she is forever experimenting, adaptable and ‘having fun’ with her art form!
The workshop participants started off the workshop decorating various bisque fired items that Claire had pre-fired for them. This is one of my favourite parts of the workshop, seeing peoples individual ‘style’ come to life, from polka dots, to watercolour like brush strokes to dripping techniques to smiley faces… no two were the same.

After enjoying a coffee/tea from the legends over at Neighbour Geelong and some locally made nibbles care of Asdaisydoes, the participants progressed on to ‘getting down and dirty’ part of the workshop… Making their pot and saucer OR cup and saucer. This is the component of the workshop that is more challenging, physically manipulating the clay, creating texture and shape with a malleable medium. Claire has now taken all the items away to fire, ready for the participants to collect in 3 weeks time! (Photo coming soon!)
An enormous thankyou to Claire for all her hard work and effort in preparing all the items and equipment for the workshop and all the work that goes in to the products post the workshop. Claire absolutely loves sharing her passion with others… this certainly won’t be the last you will see of her at Asdaisydoes, Geelong!
